Public speaking
Speaking to an audience is a fundamental skill with an impact on everyday life. Effective communication matters beyond formal speeches to a large audience: we also need it at work meetings, when presenting a project, taking an exam or attending an interview.
Practise every aspect of communication: volume, tone, pace, gestures and pauses. A well-placed pause can emphasise a sentence and build anticipation.

At Toastmasters, the Pathways education programme guides you in preparing speeches for club meetings. An experienced member can support your preparation, and after your speech you receive feedback from the audience.
This approach lets you experiment and practise in a supportive environment, then apply constructive suggestions in future speeches to improve your communication techniques.
